Hazardous Materials Spill Guidelines

Designate alternate party for reporting spills

Designate and train emergency responders (ISP) to call for roadway clearnup after hazmat spill

IDEM should be allowed to call one contractor for IDEM funded spill cleanup

Crash Report should be ammended to include places to note fuel spills and/or cargo spills

ISP should have a call list of spill response contractors to call for roadway clearnup (could partner with INDOT for companies authorized to work in right-of-way)

Allow Law Enforcement to issue citation for commercial hazmat spill when spiller/driver was at fault, revenue would fund abanded spills on state right-of-way
