Accomplishments achieved through IN-TIME
The following are highlights of accomplishments achieved through the IN-TIME working group in 2009:
Legislation
- House Bill 1650 has passed and includes the following items:
- Hold Harmless Law
- Abandoned Vehicle Law (from 72 to 24 hours)
- Move It Law
Photogrammetry
- INDOT, DOR, FHWA, and the Indiana Toll Road have realesed funding for 22 complete crash reconstruction kits.
- Training will begin in June for ISP, IMPD, Sheriff's Dept., and Toll Road employees.
The following are highlights of accomplishments achieved through the InTIME (formerly Quick Clearance) working group in 2008:
- Fender Bender Signs - Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) has erected 50 "Move Vehicles to Shoulder" signs in the greater Indianapolis area
- Emergency Scene Signage - INDOT has purchased 25 "Emergency Scene Ahead" signs for use by INDOT's Hoosier Helper Freeway Service Patrol
- Superloads Escort Protocol Review - Indiana State Police (ISP), Department of Revenue (DOR), and INDOT currently meeting to evaluate current procedures and make needed changes
- Increased Cross Discipline Responder Awareness - Workgroup has gained much cross discipline knowledge in operational protocols; INDOT's Hoosier Helper Freeway Service Patrol now making calls to IDEM on spills
- Photogrammetry for Crash Reconstruction - one ISP Trooper is using this technology and investigating further use and training; ISP and INDOT are negotiating funding for additional purchase of photogrammetry equipment for use in the busiest traffic areas of the state
- After Action Reviews - Facilitated 3 after action reports on fatal crashes in different areas of the state to help identify barriers to quick clearance and
